Well, we closed the Bake Shop today,
Friday, very sad! :( We had one of the BEST
days in a long time (record setting!!!) You could
say we came into Alfred with a BIG BANG and we out
with a BIG BANG!! It was very hard for me to close
because I love what I do and love to serve people
and make them happy knowing we always made great
food for them. We made alot of friends over the past
8 1/2 years, always
made them laugh and feel like family!! Mary and I
will miss that the most!! If we only made 1/4 a day
of what me made today, we would not be going
anywhere! I just know everyone is having it hard
these days, moneys tight and some people have lost
their jobs! Everyone that came in said it was not
your food, just everything going on around us
(economy!!) your food was the best around they said,
which made me feel a whole lot better. Mary and I
would really like to thank " ALL" our customer that
supported us through good times and hard times,
Thanks!! If I ever decide to do this again, the big
word will be spreading like wild fire, Bob's Bake
Shop is Reopening in a area near you!! Thanks again

Dear Bob and Mary,
Thank you for your expression of gratitude and your thoughts as you move ahead
with your plans both of which cause me to again express my sincere thanks for
the great food and fun times you provided me. Within the last two weeks, I had
watched a TV news show featuring Ted Danson, the lead character of the once very
popular TV show "Cheers", in his new life efforts as an oceanographer. The news
piece caused me to think about the "Cheers" experience and Bob Bake Shop. I came
to believe that there were many similarities for most of your patrons and that
lead me to say to you in the final days of your business, that your up coming
closing reminded me of the final show of the once very popular TV show "Cheers".
Bob's Bake Shop - the food was certainly what brought us all there, but it was
also the place "where everybody knew your name " for good or bad. I ate very
well and had so much fun. I believe I understand the emotions that you now
experience with closing of the Bake Shop to probably include some relief as well
as sadness. However at the end of the day, I believe you have much to be proud
of and thankful for. In your final days, your patrons made a point to stop in
and I believe that to be testimonial to the "Bob's Bake Shop experience". It was
a great business and business model. I will miss you both and truly the whole
Bob's Bake Shop experience.. Dr. B
I'm sorry to hear that business has been bad. However, it often takes
something like that to help when you have to make your toughest
decisions in life. You've built great business there and as you
announce your plans you will finally hear those accolades from your
customers and everybody will be asking why, but as you say, all that
praise won't pay the bills.
I wish I had the statistics but the number of businesses that fail
within the first five years is staggering and you made it eight years.
You have done a tremendous job doing what you love to do with your
supportive wife by your side through it all. I don't think you'll ever
know how many people are truly envious of you that you could pull that
off in the prime of your career. Congratulations! ....
We've been a great team together more than once and I have to
admit, although I doubt the dreams will ever come to fruition, but I
still have dreams of going back to running a small restaurant some day
and in those dreams, you are my partner. Who knows?

Mary & Bob you will be sadly missed ( your food also ) in the area.
Those of us who got to
know you and your food truly were the lucky ones.
There are not many
places where you could go have a great time ( raise hell ),
with owners & other
customers as well as enjoy great food and later that night reflect upon the day,
and realize that your
visit to Bob's Bake Shop was one of the high lights of the day.
